Blockbuster on The Alameda, 2002

The Alameda Blockbuster Store 2002
Closed in 2010
San Jose, CA

Reed Hastings returned a late copy of “Apollo 13” to his local Blockbuster. He was charged a $40 late fee. Two years later, he founded Netflix.

Late fees generated 17% of their annual revenue.

At one point, Blockbuster considered buying Netflix for $50 million, oops.

Blockbuster's last remaining store is in Bend, Oregon.
