Wilson's Jewel Bakery in Santa Clara, CA closed in 2006, some photos I took back in 2002.
It's a terrible loss to the city. It is one of our most beloved business. It always made everyone’s day sweeter.” Santa Clara Councilman Jamie Matthews(2006)
"William Wilson, Sr. was the founder of Wilson's Jewel Bakery which opened in 1923. The bakery was originally at 1511 Franklin Street. It moved to its Franklin Mall location on Homestead Road in 1966 when eight square blocks of the original downtown area were razed in a 1960's urban renewal project."
After her husband, William passed away in 1977, Rosalie Wilson with her sons Ken and Alex ran the store until it closed in 2006.
