Edward Maynard House
Built: 1892
1151 Minnesota Ave
Willow Glen, San Jose, CA
There is some debate as to Edward Maynard's occupation, but many believe he came to California to find his riches in the mining.
The Maynard Mansion is one of three Willow Glen dwellings listed in the Santa Clara County Heritage Resource Inventory.
"The house is a George F. Barber design. Built for Mr. Edward Maynard the tower is an original design feature. Stairs lead up to a curved door that provides access to the tower balcony. There is an unusual window through the chimney at the second floor level."
George Franklin Barber (July 31, 1854 – February 17, 1915) was an American architect known for the house designs he marketed worldwide through mail-order catalogs. Barber was one of the most successful residential architects of the late Victorian period in the United States, and his plans were used for houses in all 50 U.S. states, and in nations as far away as Japan and the Philippines (Architecture: An American Catalog of Designs, 1891)
