Chapel of the Chimes – Oakland

Designed and expanded by famed architect Julia Morgan, the Chapel of the Chimes is one of the Bay Area’s most beautiful and contemplative spaces. Originally built in 1909 and transformed under Morgan’s direction in the 1920s, the columbarium is a labyrinth of light, shadow, and intricate design — a blend of Gothic, Moorish, and Spanish Revival influences.

Walking through its marble halls and courtyards feels like moving through a living work of art — one that honors both architecture and memory.
